Oh, boy — at least we still have Facebook or TikTok
Once, in Texas, I had some small talk with a middle-aged Lyft driver, and he said he didn't have any medical insurance. I was surprised by that fact, as he seemed like a decent white man, so I asked him why. He answered that he was very healthy, so he didn't need to waste his money on medical care.
At that time, his answer didn't seem very reasonable to me, because in the U.S. a lot of people go bankrupt because of the medical system, even if they have medical insurance.
After Luigi Nicholas Mangione killed Brian Robert Thompson of UnitedHealth Group, I fully realized that the Texas driver was damn right! Even if you have medical insurance, they still have thousands upon thousands of reasons to refuse to pay your medical bills.
Then, I looked up how many Texans don't have medical insurance: you wouldn't believe it — quite a lot of Texans have none at all.
But guess what? We still have democracy, freedom, Facebook, TikTok, Instagram, and Amazon.
Cheers for that, unless you want to be smashed by an American patriot with a hammer.
Thank God, at this moment, we still have the right to criticize the government or the like without worrying about being put in an ICE concentration camp in a Florida swamp, sleeping with alligators.
