​The Illusion of Decentralization

去中心化只是一个幻觉,到最后要么服务器owners变成一个个小的部落独裁者,像mastodon那些instances的管理员一样; 要么最后汇总变成一个大的网络国度的独裁者,像bluesky的拥有者一样。

去中心化意味着力量分散,最后反而更容易被垄断各个击破,然后彻底击败,有时候我甚至怀疑去中心化本身是不是垄断公司设计出来的。

也许去中心化是理想主义者们为了对抗垄断及追求言论自由,可实际上最后却变成另一种牢笼以及垄断者的利润来源。这怎么看都很像古代的农民起义,本意是为了追求平等,反抗暴政,可到最后起义军往往变成另一个暴政,甚至变得比上一个暴政更坏。

有两件事让人会觉得非常奇怪,一是新闻看到Jack Dorsey支持Bluesky跟马克扎克伯格支持ActivityPub协议; 二是OpenAI,Authropic,X跟Google等都投入闭源,反对中国AI公司的开源。这难道不让人觉得这帮人精神分裂吗? 一方面支持去中心化跟开源,一方面又严禁AI开源,重新转回闭源。

开源跟闭源都不重要,这些人会把将要绞死他们的绞绳卖给你,重要的是如何榨取最后一滴利润。

不过,他们支持去中心化的显性理由普通人也能分析:

1 改善自己的名声;

2 剥离一部分内容让去中心化部落主去承担内容审核跟法律合规风险;

3 训练他们自己的闭源AI模型。

去中心化在香港抗议也曾实践过,"Be Water"是当时非常有名的口号,去中心化避免了港府擒贼先擒王的风险,但同时也因为缺乏明确的最终目标和统一的策略跟行动方案,导致最后彻底失败。

香港抗议最初是理想主义者为了对抗专权而自发形成的政治协议,但马上被利用,变成对抗ccp的先锋棋子,最后因为失去利用价值,迅速被抛弃。像极了垄断公司支持去中心化协议的逻辑,理想主义者还是沦为垄断者的数据奶牛跟承担攻击的屏障。

只要人们最后还是选择为了便利牺牲隐私自由跟话语权,去中心化就是一场彻头彻尾的幻觉。

协议可以去中心化,但人性跟权力不能。
